A fine needlework sampler wrought by Melissa Gratenburgh, aged 11 years, 1834, Stanford, NY (Dutchess County). This sampler depicts the Nine Partners Quaker School and baskets of flowers, trees, and alphabets in cross stitch and chain stitch. All within a strawberry border.
Silk thread on linen with a poem. Mounted within a narrow wood frame that meausres 18 1/2 inches square.
Good vibrant color throughout. Wear due to folding mid to low center of image.
