BROWN FURNITURE - inlaid mahogany work table

A "cookie corner" mahogany sewing table with two narrow drawers with crotch-mahogany veneer facades and plain maple crossbanding and original brass knobs over a medial shelf with the characteristic scalloped borders - raised on fine reeded, round legs ending in ball feet.

This table is associated with Portsmouth, New Hampshire circa 1800. A rare find made possible by the waning and fickle interest in period furniture.

30 1/2 inches high, top measures 17 inches by 17 1/2 inches
