A CT Windsor armchair -ex. Benjamin Ginsburg,1980. Mr. Ginsburg referred to this chair as a Connecticut State-House chair in a letter to a client. Of typical form with an exaggerated crest rail with high 'ears' Baluster turned arm supports and legs.
A good, sturdy chair and retaining the original paint history on the underside of the seat. Circa 1775 - 1800. There are more than a few examples of this style Windsor armchair and, while not signed are attributed to the shop of John Wadsworth, in Hartford, CT. High- 39 7/8 inches, seat height - 17 7/8 inches. A beautiful chair with a dramatic splay to the legs.
