A plain, unengraved, baluster-form George 11 sterling silver mug with hallmarks on the underside for the maker Richard Burcombe, London, the sterling standard and the date letter for 1734. 6 ozt. 4 inches high.
Christening mugs are quite scarce. They hold a half pint of liquid. Our mug is beautifully formed and elevated on a molded, spreading foot. The handle is 'S' shaped and has thumb piece. Burcombe was noted as a maker of mugs and tankards.
