An important pair of three-light silvered wall sconces featuring masks of Louis V of France above leafy 'C' scrolling and central, rectangular reflecting plate engraved with an armorial and motto "Dieu Aide"
These wonderful and very decorative objects exhibit beautiful facades and very crude, almost unfinished backs. The last picture shows the rough surfaces left by the casting process and the crude nuts which hold the arms to the lower section of the back.
The three gracefully curved arms terminate with ornate drip pans and socles. The sconces measure 10 1/2 inches wide and 18 inches high. France, Circa 1750
