A pair of two-light octagonal copper sconces with detachable circular reflectors.* Each with repousse decorations of bosses, fruits, corn, and pine cones. Of Dutch origin and dating from the first half of the 18th century.
"Fire and Light In The Home" John Caspell. Antique Collectors' Club. pictures a similar example fig. 565 page 249 and comments on these decorative motifs which apparently appear on this form of sconce.
These fine period lighting devices measure 19 inches high and 9 1/2 inches wide.* Frequently the reflectors are lost. We were fortunate to find this pair in original, intact condition.
